EwingCole designed a curved façade for Asplundh Cancer Pavilion with a large curtainwall and metal accents. The metal was finished to resemble wood.
Peg O’Grady, administrative director, oncology at Asplundh Cancer Pavilion, says, “Our design team did an incredible job bringing the outdoors into the pavilion with abundant natural light, birch and moss design elements, and views of the surrounding greenery.”
The 86,000-square-foot project included the curtainwall, vertical aluminum sunshades and horizontal curtainwall cover plates. R.A. Kennedy and Sons Inc. installed the glazing, and Robert Ganter Contractors Inc. installed the aluminum components. Kawneer Co. Inc. supplied its curtainwall, vertical aluminum sunshade fins, and 8-inch to 12-inch-deep horizontal curtainwall cover plates. Linetec Inc. finished the aluminum components in Hazelnut Brown.
The project utilized two- and four-sided structural glazed curtainwall, standard curtainwall, aluminum entrances, and custom aluminum trims. Kawneer’s aluminum framing was used for four-sided, structural glazed curtainwall. The four-sided cassette system has glass and sub-framing that were fabricated together by R.A. Kennedy and Sons and installed in the curtainwall’s carrier frames.
