Tippmann Construction Inc. completed a design-build project for Castellini Group’s Atlantic Healthy Foods south of Atlanta. The 180,000-square-foot produce processing and distribution facility houses a temperature-controlled warehouse and 15,000 square feet of office space.
Tippmann Construction installed 230,000 square feet of Metl-Span’s 4-inch, 26-gauge insulated metal panels (IMPs) in three profiles for the project. Dan Budzon, senior project estimator at Tippmann Construction, says IMPs are well-suited for Atlantic Healthy Foods’ project. “The factors at play are maximum thermal performance and energy efficiency, and finding the right building product to meet those standards,” he says.
Tippmann Construction installed CF Flute IMPs, CF Mesa IMPs and 5,000 square feet of 4-inch, fire-resistant ThermalSafe panels with LockGuard interlocking side joints in the main stairwells. The majority of the IMPs are Light Stone with a siliconized polyester coating on the exterior and Igloo White on the interior.
“One of the reasons we like the Metl-Span product is its interlocking capabilities,” says Budzon. “It lends itself to quick and easy installation and faster close-in.”
Atlantic Healthy Foods’ LEED-certified project was completed in April 2016.
