Coursey Springs Fish Hatchery, Millsboro, Va.

Completed in February 2010, this 78,917- square-foot (7,331-m2) complex is comprised of three buildings that utilize Star Building Systems’ DuraRib roof system and DuraRib wall panels. The durability, long life span and economical efficiencies of the Star metal buildings were the reasons for using a custom metal building over conventional construction.

In addition to the Star products, low profile floating ridgeline ventilations were continuous on all the buildings. Also, a 2-inch (51-mm) insulated metal panel was used as wall and roof liner on a portion of one building to be used as a cooler.

The additional two buildings are open to 8 feet (2 m) for circulation. To keep predators out, the space was enclosed with a chain link fence.

The project was the largest metal buildings that had been erected by Star’s authorized builder, Lantz Construction Co.
