Project goals for Devro Inc.'s food manufacturing facility included an energy-efficient design with room for expansion, food-grade cleanliness and a high-tech appearance that projects the owner's corporate image.

Studio 2LR Inc. specified insulated metal panels (IMPs) for exterior and interior walls including horizontal IMPs in red to match the owner's brand at the entrance. Studio 2LR specified IMPs for the exterior envelope because they provided the R-value needed and IMPs in white in the interior to create a food-grade wall system and bright environment for employees.

The manufacturing plant has four production lines, associated support spaces and capacity for 12 total production lines. The floor plan is organized along a circulation corridor that bisects the building, separating production areas from support areas. A security lobby at the main entrance controls access to specific areas of the building via the circulation corridor.

Coldroom Systems Inc. installed Metl-Span's 4-inch-thick, 26-gauge G90 galvanized steel CF Mesa IMPs with Kynar coating on 70 percent of the 130,000-square-foot building's exterior and on all the interior walls. The project was completed in June 2015.
