A student recreation center for Chowan University, the Hawk’s Nest underwent a reroof when the cost of replacing the building wasn’t an option. The building’s initial barrel roof was greatly deteriorated and disposal would have been a major cost. Completed in September 2012, Benchmark Buildings and Irrigation installed 10,900 square feet of Standing Seam 360 roof panels in Royal Blue from Architectural Metal Systems. The process took the barrel roof to a 4:12 pitch. With the cost and ease in installation, as well as the durability of the metal roof, the university is pleased and now the building can continue its purpose as a student activities center.
