To repair and replace buildings at Limetree Beach Club resort—renamed from Bluebeard’s Beach Club on St. Thomas—damaged by hurricanes, a two-phase project with metal roofing was completed.
Hurricanes Irma and Maria, both Category 5 storms, damaged roofs on seven guest buildings at the timeshare development and caused moisture damage. Smaller support services buildings required demolition and replacement.
“This project was very similar to a total rehab project. We had to basically gut everything to the structural members, so we were left with a blank canvas,” says Dave Rutberg, project manager at Silverberg Associates Inc. “We tried to be sympathetic to the original buildings on the site.”
The first phase of the project repaired the seven guestroom buildings. In the second phase, support services buildings—including a check-in facility, gymnasium, and pool lanai—were relocated and rebuilt on the site. The new locations and designs maximize views and expansion space. Additionally, a new accessible guestroom building was constructed.
On the guestroom buildings, Central Roofing installed Petersen Aluminum Corp.’s aluminum PAC-CLAD Tite-Loc Plus structural standing seam roof systems in Interstate Blue. On the existing buildings, the standing seam roofs replaced Spanish-style metal tile roofs with a terra cotta finish.
