For energy conservation, ARC Architecture and Design Studio PLLC incorporated a variety of metal building products in its design for a high-rise, mixed-use building with a hotel on 20 floors planned to be a Holiday Inn.
Gamco Corp. supplied its windows, outswing doors, curtainwalls, storefront systems, and entrance doors. “The Long Island City Hotel project illustrates Gamco’s complete product line and demonstrates to architects, builders, and developers our ability to be the single-source supplier for all their fenestration needs,” says Melora Chang, vice-president at Gamco.
On the building’s north, south, and west facades, RL Aluminum Panel and Glass Inc. installed Gamco’s W250C fixed and casement commercial windows arranged in combined units. The windows have thermally broken frames and 25.4-mm (1-in.) wide glazing pockets with AGC America Inc.’s Energy Select 28 low-E dual-pane insulated glass units (IGUs). RL Aluminum Panel and Glass field-glazed the IGUs in the window frames on-site.
To facilitate HVAC functionality in guest rooms, RL Aluminum Panel and Glass installed Reliable Products’ model AEL-42 window-integrated aluminum packaged terminal air conditioner louvers.
To provide access to the 10th and 18th floor roof terraces, RL Aluminum Panel and Glass installed Gamco’s BD325 aluminum outswing balcony doors. The doors have thermally broken aluminum frames and IGUs.
At ground level, at the building’s main entrance on the north side, RL Aluminum Panel and Glass installed Gamco’s CW250P curtainwall system. At ground floor entrances and retail spaces, RL Aluminum Panel and Glass installed Gamco’s FG 451-T storefront system and D350 medium stile entrance doors.
