A large bottom rolling door with 10 panels opens Keys to the World Aviation’s aviation hangar. Trimak Building Systems Inc. installed Well Bilt Industries’ 200-foot-wide by 28-foot-tall, bi-parting door. The 62,000-square-foot facility comprises two buildings: a 59,000-square-foot hangar and 3,000-square-foot support building.
Tim Davis, vice president of sales at ACI Building Systems, says, “The building was designed to accommodate the strict defection limits required for the hangar door. The door wouldn’t function properly if the building deflected too much.”
To construct the hangar portion, Trimak erected ACI Building Systems LLC’s metal building system with a 240-foot clear span and special deflection for the hangar door. Trimak used galvanized G90 steel for secondary framing and attached support building.
On the roof, Trimak installed ACI’s 24-gauge Galvalume StratoShield standing seam roof system. On the walls, Trimak installed 26-gauge Galvalume PBR panels coated in ACI 3000 Almond.
