For the exterior of Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia, BLT Architects designed perforated metal wall panels with backlighting that continue the flow of an entrance canopy. Located in the Stadium District in South Philadelphia, the 1.5 million-square-foot project includes a casino, hotel and 2,700-space parking garage.
EDA Contractors Inc. installed 20,000 square feet of American Metalcraft Inc.’s custom perforated 0.125-inch-thick aluminum panels in four colors. Finishing Dynamics LLC finished the panels with PVDF architectural extrusion coatings from Sherwin-Williams Coil Coatings in four colors: Lee Ivory, Marble, Seawolf Beige and Surrey Beige. The colors of the parking garage match the casino building.
To allow panels to follow the project profile seamlessly, American Metalcraft designed a sub-framing system with structural aluminum tube framing and corner trusses. Additionally, to accommodate lighting, American Metalcraft fabricated a light trough at the base of some panel areas.
