For a renovation and addition project at Goucher College’s Mary Fisher Dining Center, Ayers Saint Gross specified copper panels that will develop patina over time. The project added 10,100 square feet to the building.
Copper panels were used to clad eyebrows with complicated geometry surrounding curtainwalls. ICON Exterior Building Solutions installed 4,700 square feet of IMETCO’s Legacy metal wall panels produced with 16-ounce copper.
Because of the challenging geometry and transitions from roof to wall, the detailing and installation of underlayments and air barriers was critical to achieve the proper vapor profile within the building envelope. Panels were installed over continuous insulation and plywood covered by IMETCO’s IntelliWrap SA vapor open water resistive air barrier on the vertical conditions. On the horizontal and sloping conditions, IMETCO’s AquaBlock 60-mil roofing underlayment was installed.
