Metal panels clad food processing plant

Building envelopes are important considerations for the food and beverage industry

CMC Design Build specified Metl-Span's metal wall panels for Kettle Cuisine's office and manufacturing plant in Lynn, Mass., which was completed in 2014. Mark Carnicelli, AIA, of CMC Design Build, says there was a time when it was common for manufacturing companies in the food and beverage industry to erect a large, white building with function, at times, being the only consideration. Carnicelli says building functionality remains important, but demand for color and profile variety has increased. "Customers are more sophisticated now than ever before," he notes. "They want a bit of architecture in their buildings, something unique."

Carnicelli says the building envelope is the most important consideration for food and beverage industry clients. "You can't skimp on the building envelope," he says. The project utilized Metl-Span's 36-inch Architectural Flat panels in Brick Red and Regal Grey; Thermal Safe 42 and CF 45 panels in white; and 7.2 Rib panels with a weathered zinc finish installed horizontally.
