SK&I Architecture created a modern design for Modera Mosaic apartment complex in Fairfax, Va., with metal wall panels in four colors. Chesapeake Siding Contractors Inc. installed Citadel Architectural Products’ metal wall panels in Reserve White, Sky Blue, Narrow Cherry and Slate Gray on the six-story building, which has retail space at ground level and residential space at the five stories above.
Simon Kim, production manager at Chesapeake Siding Contractors, says he estimates his crew was on the job site for about a year. “Everything went well with that project,” he says. “We like working with metal, especially at higher levels because it’s lighter and safer to work with than other heavier siding products.”
The LEED Silver-certified, mixed-use facility has approximately 260,000 square feet of space with 251 residential units and 50,000 square feet of retail space. Modera Mosaic is located close to Washington, D.C., in the Mosaic District, which is near a metro station, shops, restaurants and theaters. It was completed in 2015.
