Parking garage, Orlando, Fla.

Parking garage, Orlando, Fla.Mullet’s Aluminum Products Inc. fabricated the supporting structure and other components and installed perforated metal panels on a six-story parking garage adjacent to a Ferris wheel, Orlando Eye. “The owners wanted to add contrast and depth to the design,” says Neil Rainford, project manager at Mullet’s Aluminum Products. “The perforated panels really showcase the structure.”

Mullet’s Aluminum Products installed approximately 5,000 square feet of Petersen Aluminum Corp.’s 7.2 Panels on the exterior of the upper levels. The perforated 0.032-inch aluminum exposed fastener panels have a Musket Gray finish and 1/2- inch round holes at 11/16-inch staggered centers, which creates a 47 percent open area.

Dave Landis is architectural/technical sales manager at Petersen Aluminum’s Acworth, Ga., factory, where the project’s panels were produced. “We’re seeing more and more perforated metal panel jobs, particularly here in the South,” he says.

The parking garage provides access to the Ferris wheel and other attractions on International Drive. It was completed in 2014. The 18-story, 400-foot-tall Orlando Eye gives visitors views to Universal Studios, SeaWorld, Epcot Center and, on a clear day, Cape Canaveral.
