Metal roof and wall panels in custom Marina Orange, custom Marina Blue and other bright Key West colors were incorporated in a design-build project for Parks Marina on East Lake Okoboji. Custom colors were obtained by purchasing coil and sending it to Butler Manufacturing, which supplied its Widespan metal building system, to roll the panel profiles and trims.
Parks Marina was constructed with a metal building system and canopy extension with glass block columns supporting its roof structure.
The main building houses spaces for a boat showroom, boat storage, restaurant, indoor bar and events center. The attached canopy extension has spaces for an outdoor restaurant and bar.
The complete facility is 140 feet wide by 402 feet long by 38 feet tall and houses 56,300 square feet. Design-builder Christensen Construction Co. erected the building and canopy, and installed the panels.
On the main building’s roof, Christensen installed 56,000 square feet of Butler’s 24-gauge MR24 ALZN steel roof panels with a natural finish. On the canopy, Christensen installed Butler’s 24-gauge VSR standing seam roof system in custom Marina Blue.
The main building has two different types of walls. The first type of walls is at the west and north sides of the building. They are built with a stacked wall system. At the bottom, there are Butler’s 26-gauge BRII metal wall panels in Cool Birch White. At the top, there are Butler’s 2-inchthick, 24-gauge Texturewall insulated metal panels (IMPs) in White II.
The second type of walls is at the east and south sides of the building where Christensen installed BR II panels in custom Marina Orange.
