A design-build project for Pik-A-Pop convenience store at Othello Chevron gas station used a metal building system, metal roofing and wall panels to meet project goals for envelope tightness, aesthetics and cost.
Design-builder Joe Park Construction LLC used cold-formed purlins for part of a mezzanine instead of open bar joists, which was a less expensive application. To give the facility attractive look, Park Construction added an entry with wooden framing and blue standing seam roofing, and veneer masonry to the front of the building. Additionally, insulated metal panels (IMPs) were used for walls. Joe Park, owner, Park Construction, says, “IMPs have a clean look on the inside and a durable and attractive appearance on the outside.”
IMPs were beneficial for the project in other aspects too, Park says. “Insulated metal panels give us an efficient method of construction with a tight system. Trust me, that’s a tight system. The interior metal panels give the owners a durable and an easy-to-clean wall. That’s obviously important in a busy store where food and drinks are sold.”
To complete the project, Best Built Construction LLC installed 10,105 square feet of Metl-Span’s CF42 IMPs with a Mesa finish. The 2 1/2-inch-thick IMPs have 26-gauge steel exterior faces in PVDF Regal Gray and 26-gauge steel interior faces with a Light Mesa finish in Igloo White. A total of 7,300 square feet of MBCI’s Ultra-Dek trapezoidal standing seam roof system in Polar White.
