Science Building, Henry Ford Community College, Dearborn, Mich.

The 19,000-square-foot addition to the Science Building at Henry Ford Community College adds capacity and addresses the growing demand for science. The expansion adds four new laboratories and two new classrooms to one of the original buildings on campus. Henry Ford Community College serves approximately 19,000 students in southeast Michigan.

“We installed about 2,800 zinc panels and the job went really well,” according to Jim Herman, project manager with C.L. Rieckhoff Co. Inc. More than 13,000 square feet of 1-mm VMZINC Anthra and Quartz Zinc Dri-Design panels were utilized to clad the new structure. Umicore Building Products USA Inc. provided the VMZINC found in the Dri- Design panels. Design for the project was provided by SHW Group. The project is LEED registered and slated for Gold certification.
