Tennessee State Museum’s new location, Nashville, Tenn.

Bronze wall panels and bronze doors are among the building materials specified for Tennessee State Museum’s new location. Considerations for specifying the bronze elements included durability and, for the doors, operability and tall height.

EOA Architects was architect of record and HGA was design architect for the 141,000-square-foot, two-story, new museum building. Sheila Dial-Barton, AIA, principal at EOA Architects, says, “The museum is intended to truly serve as the front door for the state of Tennessee. Built with durable, quality materials, it’s designed to be a 100-year building and last long into the next century.”

At an entrance canopy and other applications around the museum, Kovach Building Enclosures fabricated and installed Muntz bronze wall panels. At entrances, Alexander Metals Inc. installed 40 of Ellison Bronze Inc.’s bronze stile and rail balanced doors. The doors have a Satin #4 finish with a custom patina.
