The Texas A&M Liberal Arts and Humanities Building in College Station, Texas, was completed in May 2012. Firestone Metal Products supplied 6,800 square feet of custom perforated 1/8-inch aluminum panels with a 0.040 backpan. MG McGrath fabricated and installed the aluminum panels that were finished in a custom medium bronzed anodized coating. The end result is a screen that extends from the building’s exterior entrance into the interior providing a clear marker to the building’s visitors and onlookers. The material was finished by Hiawatha Metalcraft Inc. The approximately 120,000-square-foot building was designed by Brown Reynolds Watford Architects and HGA Architects and Engineers. The building is home to the campus’ English and Performing Studies departments. The building houses a number of classrooms, performance areas, theater and offices. Designed for LEED Silver standards, the building’s sustainable features include a rainwater cistern used to irrigate foliage surrounding the building.
