S3 Design Inc. retrofitted a warehouse for The Refinery health club, and maintained the building’s industrial aesthetics. A centralized black metal box with an open fitness space circulates around. Program spaces are carved out of the box, which is highlighted at the reception and training areas. Locker rooms, chiro spa, sales, and staff areas are located off a central corridor through the metal box. To break up the scale of the large volume, perforated panels was used with a red accent behind them.
T&R Fixtures LLC installed McNICHOLS Co.’s 1-inch perforated steel, 58% open area, in black with U-channel edges. T&R also installed Móz Designs 0.04-inch-thick aluminum panels in Black Sand.
The gym’s program elements include a sprint track, indoor and outdoor turf training space, space for cardio exercises and a training studio.
