Laser-cut stainless steel panels with an ornate circular pattern provide a modern reinterpretation of the historic patterns of a café kiosk’s surrounding Beaux Arts-style buildings. Enveloping downtown San Francisco’s Bi-Rite Café, this unique cladding design is part of designer bifold liftstrap doors from Hector, Minn.-based Schweiss Doors. Designed by WRNS Studio of San Francisco, the five doors open on all sides of the kiosk. The 2-inch-thick aluminum panels provide a shaded canopy for customers to stand under when placing their orders. When closed, they blend into the building design so passersby can’t really see there are doors there.
