At its recent Winter Meeting, the Metal Construction Association (MCA) presented the Patrick R. Bush Service Award to Rob Haddock of S-5! (award presented by MCA board chair Lee Ann Slattery), and Larry A. Swaney Award to Renee Ramey, executive director of the Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA).

The Metal Construction Association (MCA) presented its Patrick R. Bush Service Award to Rob Haddock and its Larry A. Swaney Award to Renee Ramey in appreciation for their service to the association and the metal construction industry. The winners were announced during MCA’s annual winter meeting in San Antonio, Texas.

The Patrick R. Bush Award recognizes an individual from an MCA member company who has made a significant volunteer contribution to the Metal Construction Association. It was established to honor Patrick R. Bush, an influential, long-serving MCA board member.

“Rob’s years of service to the industry earned him the MCA’s Larry Swaney Award in 2015,” said MCA chair LeeAnne Slattery. “Now, in recognition of his extensive contributions to the MCA, including technical authorship, education, and leadership service, I am proud to present Rob Haddock with the 2026 Patrick R. Bush Award.”

Haddock has been an active contributor to the MCA for decades through participation in numerous committees, councils, and technical initiatives. He has served on the MCA Roofing Task Group, Fasteners Task Group, Accessories Council, and Wall Council. He also played a key role—alongside Tom Black and the National Coil Coaters Association (NCCA)—in the creation of the Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA), a national initiative that successfully advanced MCA’s goals within the residential construction sector.

In addition, Haddock has authored numerous technical white papers for the MCA, addressing critical industry topics including snow retention, solar and metal roofing integration, fastener compatibility, lightning protection, hail resistance, and standards for metal roof attachments. His work has helped move the industry forward through improved education, testing and standardization.

Haddock said getting this award is “near to his heart” because he knew Patrick R. Bush, describing him as a “soft-spoken gentlemen” who was “humble and a selfless collaborator.”

For him, he said simply joining an association does not really do anything, but instead, using that membership to participate in the association is where the benefit comes.

“I find that to be very rewarding,” Haddock said. He shared that his financial team often question the need for him and his employees to attend so many industry meetings, but to him, the “personal relationships and friendships” gained through attending these meetings is more “important than business.”

The Larry A. Swaney Award is bestowed upon an outstanding industry professional for their contributions to the success of the association and the betterment of the metal construction industry.

Ramey serves as the executive director of the MRA. In her role, she is responsible for the daily management of the MRA’s ongoing marketing programs aimed at increasing metal roofing’s residential market share.

Ramey brings more than 20 years of marketing and management experience to the MRA. She has performed a variety of roles within the metals industry, from marketing and sales to HR and accounting to order and project management.

In accepting her recognition, Ramey said she wanted to honor the award’s namesake, Larry A. Swaney.

“I had the pleasure of knowing him, and working with him, and being part of the association he helped create. We are very lucky that Larry had a vision,” Ramey said.

Ramey said she never thought she would be involved in the industry, but she has made many friends and connections.

Renee is a LEED certified associate and is also active in numerous industry organizations.
