Butler Manufacturing has announced that all Butler-Cote color finishes on wall and roof systems now have a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) rating of 29 or greater. This latest initiative in the company’s ongoing product sustainability program offers Butler Builder contractors the broadest selection of energy-saving color options for roof and wall panels in the metal building industry, according to David E. Evers, P.E. vice president of research and development. The enhancement also complements the other inherent advantages of metal building systems for building programs designed to LEED criteria or candidates for formal LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The 15 standard Butler-Cote finishes consist of full-strength, 70 percent Kynar 500 or Hylar 5000 resin-based fluorpolymer formulations. The paint finishes carry a 25-year, manufacturerbacked warranty against chalking, fading and other performance characteristics.
