The Metal Construction Association (MCA) invites you to visit its new booth at METALCON 2015 to learn about many of the great accomplishments and initiatives underway that benefit you and the entire metal construction industry. As METALCON celebrates its 25th Anniversary, MCA is reinvigorating its presence on the show floor, with displays that illustrate how MCA and its members advocate for the entire industry.
MCA serves numerous segments of the metal construction industry, which function as councils that work together within the structure of the association. These councils and their many projects, initiatives and accomplishments-all in support of the metal construction industry-are represented in the new MCA booth.
Educational sessions will be held daily in MCA’s own educational theater in Booth #2123. The brief 20-minute sessions will highlight the advancements that MCA and its members are making together to benefit the industry. Visit the MCA booth for a schedule of presentations, including:
- Service Life Study: Learn about the groundbreaking study conducted by MCA and the ZAC Association that shows that some metal roofs can last as long as the buildings they cover: typically 60 years or more.
- Proper Fastener Selection: Find out how to choose the correct fastener for your project from experts from MCA’s Accessories Council.
- Seaming Best Practices: Hear first-hand from industry leaders about best practices for metal roof seaming.
- Benefits of Insulated Metal Panels in the Building Envelope: Understand how IMPs can help control air and rainwater by forming a complete building enclosure.
- Residential Metal Roofing: Learn how the Metal Roofing Alliance is working to grow the use of metal roofing in the residential market.
- Industry Trends and Forecasts: Get a sneak peak at market analytics typically available only to members, and learn about trends and growth opportunities for metal roof and wall panels.
- MCA Membership Benefits: Find out how your company can benefit from MCA membership- at 50 percent off membership dues for the remainder of 2015-and learn how you can network with industry leaders at MCA’s Winter and Summer Meetings.
More topics will be on the agenda, so be sure to visit the MCA booth for a complete schedule.
These projects and many more will be brought to life by new displays, highlighting the many ways that MCA is the association at work for you. Actual roofing mock-ups illustrating best practices will be on display, as will case studies, white papers and technical bulletins to help you stay abreast of the latest industry trends.
For more than 30 years, MCA and its members have worked together tirelessly to advance the use of metal in construction, and we welcome you to join us at METALCON to learn more.
2015 MCA Chairman’s Awards to Be Unveiled at METALCON
Each year MCA announces the winners of its prestigious Chairman’s Awards at METALCON. Be sure to stop by on the first day of the show, Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 5:30 p.m., to see the awards be unveiled. Photos and descriptions highlighting the winning projects will be on display in the MCA booth throughout METALCON 2015.
The Chairman’s Awards are an annual designation given to outstanding building projects involving MCA member companies. Recipients for these awards are selected each year from projects submitted by MCA members to Metal Architecture magazine’s annual Design Awards program. The honorees were chosen by a panel of professional architects, which included Elaine Tisovec Fitzgerald, AIA, CCS, ArchiTech Consulting Inc., Mount Prospect, Ill.; Michael Fitzgerald, AIA, principal, OKW Architects, Chicago; and Ted Haug, AIA, LEED AP, Legat Architects, Chicago.
The MCA Chairman’s Awards are given in nine categories: commercial/industrial, education- colleges and universities, education-primary and secondary schools, institutional, metal roofing, municipal and residential. The judges also recognize projects with awards for honorable mention and overall excellence.
Award recipients were determined based on overall appearance, significance of metal in the project, innovative use of metal, and the role of metal in achieving project objectives.
