Silver crescent moons overlap and float against a backdrop of orange splatter and meteor-like flumes of gray dots. Neither an abstract expressionist painting nor an interstellar roadmap, it’s actually a squash court wall at the Maspeth Squash court in Maspeth, N.Y. Built by a squash enthusiast/steel fabricator and birthed from the desire to bring the sport of squash to a broader urban audience, it’s located in the back lot of a steel facility. Hot-rolled steel sheeting was mounted to steel framing for the court surface, and the metal was sealed to maintain a smooth and durable surface for play.
