A mesh-covered façade transforms a building into a giant speaker. The Building of Music in Tokyo includes classrooms, instrument sales, storage spaces and the company’s main offices. The double-skin mesh is porous to allow light and air to penetrate the façade. The membrane can be bent three-dimensionally, and because it is light and perforated, there is little structural stress.
