CENTRIA’s Kolorshift amplifies design possibilities

CENTRIA, Moon Township, Pa., introduced Kolorshift, a series of iridescent paint colors designed to change the appearance of the metal surface of a building depending on the viewing angle or direction of sunlight.
“CENTRIA prides itself on offering architects and building owners unlimited design possibilities in terms of form, color and texture,” said Rick Brow, Director of Marketing, CENTRIA. “Kolorshift provides yet another unique option with aesthetically pleasing results that helps create a truly distinctive design.” By using Kolorshift, an architect can design a building where a pedestrian’s first experience it as silver, then purple as they walk by it. While design teams have always employed solar orientation, especially as part of improving a building’s performance (i.e. heat loss/gain), now they can also use it to create a building that transforms from green as the sun rises to copper as the sun sets. This new line of CENTRIA paints offers a myriad of design possibilities for exterior metal walls. The continuous iridescent color gradient creates depth to the exterior of a building and adds distinguished aesthetic value—all with the exceptional performance expected from CENTRIA’s products. Kolorshift Series paints are formulated as a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) coating system with 70 percent Kynar 500®/Hylar 5000® resins, which provide lasting durability. The Kolorshift paints are applied by coil coating in order to provide consistent color and available with a standard 20-year warranty.
