Whirlwind Steel Buildings opens manufacturing facility in Georgia

Houston-based Whirlwind Steel Buildings Inc. acquired a second, 250,000-square-foot plant in Tallapoosa, Ga. It is for fabrication of metal building components and pre-engineered metal buildings.

By consolidating operations between two plants, one in Texas and a second in Georgia, Whirlwind Steel is doubling its manufacturing capacity, and simplifying its supply chain and inventory management.

The facility is near the Alabama border with access to IH-20. When fully operational, it is expected to provide 150 jobs.

Whirlwind Manufacturing was founded in Houston, in 1955 by C.O. Sturdivant. The company is family owned and operated. Manufacturing facilities are located in Texas and Georgia.
