Sheet Metal Supply Ltd., based in Grayslake, Ill., announced the company has new equipment to expand its capability into heavier metal products than it previously offered.

The company’s Mazak Nexus Fiber S7 laser cuts 25 mm (1 in.) stainless steel and mild steel, as well as 19.05 mm (0.75 in.) aluminum and copper. The Amada EMK 3612 MII turret punches aluminum and mild steel up to 4.76-mm (0.187-in.) thick and a 130-metric ton SafanDarley press brake allows the company to form aluminum to 12.7 mm (0.5 in.). Sheet Metal Supply can cut 6.09-m (20-ft.) lengths of 6.35 mm (0.25 in.) aluminum and mild steel with its AccurShear 625020 and can punch 9.52-mm (0.375-in.) thick aluminum with its Amada Coma-567 turret.

With this equipment, Sheet Metal Supply can offer heavier gauges of substructural as well as structural components and outriggers, and heavier facade panels and planters.

“Customers are always pushing the design envelope, asking for more unique and heavier gauge products,” says Ben Kweton, president at Sheet Metal Supply. “Our new 80,000-sf [7,432.24 m2] building gives us the room to add equipment with greater capabilities. We have invested in the equipment and skilled teammates to meet the growing needs of our customers and supply them with the durable, long-lasting products they require.

“Not only does this new machinery add speed and expand capability, [but] it also represents a leap in energy efficiency. We strive to shine as a single-source solution for substructural components, glazing and shading outriggers and bracketry, custom perforated plate for facades and decorative components, and a plethora of other applications.”
