VMZINC-US and Umicore USA Inc. announced that the company is celebrating its 20th anniversary of its VMZ PRO-ZINC International training program and its 20,000th trainee. With its roots beginning in 1993, VMZ PRO-ZINC International is a technical assistance service for contractors which provides practical training in the form of training courses and technical assistance on the building site.
Recognized by Europe’s Regional Directorate of Labor, Employment and Training Professionals, VMZ PRO-ZINC is dedicated to roofers, metal façade designers, architects and builders wishing to update or further develop their skills in accordance with new regulations. The courses, which are taught in a one or two-day workshop, focus on the technical implementation of zinc and how it can help in the search for appropriate solutions for specific projects. The courses combine practical theory and organized real working conditions that simulate scenarios builders may encounter in the field.
Under the leadership of Lionel Parisse, Studies and Technical Advice France, the VM PRO-ZINC team is composed of an assistant and two trainers, a roofing trainer and a technology specialist. In groups of at least eight students, each training session is devoted to a single module and covers six subjects, including façade systems, brazing and stormwater damage, chimney connection and guttering, long-standing seams, long sheets cleating and surveying. Additionally, the course informs students on recent tools, products and the most innovative systems available on the market today.
“We are excited to announce 20 years of success for VMZINC’s international VM PRO-ZINC training program and its 20,000 trainee,” said Daniel Nicely, managing director at VMZINC-US and Umicore Building Products USA Inc. “This training program is one of the many initiatives that sets VMZINC apart on an international level, as it offers hands-on and technical assistance, guaranteeing that all VMZINC products are installed correctly and successfully. However, in the US we do not provide technical assistance on the building site.”
