More than 150 detailed design examples, updated dimensions and properties of structural sections, and other useful resources that complement the 14th Edition Steel Construction Manual, are now at your fingertips. Design Examples V14.0 and Shapes Database V14.0, as well as Reference Lists contained in the latest edition of the Manual, are available for free downloading on AISC’s website at www.aisc.org/manual14. The 14th Edition Manual was released this past summer and is available in hardcover or as a digital download at www.aisc.org/manuals.
Design Examples V14.0 is a PDF collection of design examples illustrating the use of the 2010 Specification for Structural Steel Buildings and 14th Edition Manual design aids. This updated version of Steel Construction Manual Design Examples includes additional examples of composite design that provide detailed application of the expanded provisions in Chapter I of the 2010 Specification. Also included are supplementary column tables for 65 ksi steel and design examples for the 13th Edition Manual.
Shapes Database V14.0 has been updated for consistency with the shape properties contained in the 14th Edition Manual, and incorporates additional shape properties such as expanded single-angle properties, torsional properties, and shape perimeters. A more detailed description of the dimensions and properties in the database can be found in the “Read Me File” accompanying the database. Also available is the AISC Shapes Database V14.0H that includes historic shape properties from past
Manuals.
The Reference Lists contained in the 14th Edition
Manual are now sorted by chapter online and include links to each listed publication, where available. Many of the publications are accessible via the AISC website, while others link to websites where the publication can be obtained. “This is an invaluable tool for consulting engineers, professors and students, as it will assist them in locating the background material referenced in the new Manual, including the 2010
Specification Commentary,” said Cynthia J. Duncan, AISC director of engineering.
