The Midwest Roofing Contractors Association (MRCA) introduced a new safety training course for roof system installers: the Hot Air and Induction Welding Safety Training Course.
Safety training will begin Nov. 10 in conjunction with the MRCA’s 71st Annual Conference and Expo in Milwaukee, Wis. For more information, visit www.mrca.org.
MRCA is committed to building a culture of safety across the roofing industry and its objective is to provide members information, training and tools necessary to implement best practices in safety.
The Hot Air and Induction Welding Safety Training Course teaches methods for identifying and controlling hazards that workers face during installation of roofing systems using electrically powered equipment.
Every MRCA Hot Air and Induction Welding Safety Training Course graduate passes a written exam and demonstrates the hands-on knowledge of the safe handling of generating and welding equipment.
Graduates who successfully complete the safety training will have proven that they have been trained to a high standard and can be an authorized user of hot air and induction welding equipment.
The program includes a review of hazard recognition and controls, first aid for some of the most common injuries, PPE requirements, fall and fire prevention, and basic hazardous materials management. This portion of the training is intended to serve as a refresher for the people who have already have awareness training and an introduction to these subjects for those who have not.
The training program is designed to help roof workers understand the nature of hazards and how to best control the risks when working with hot air and induction welding equipment.
