NRCA announces 2013 Gold Circle Awards winners

he National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) announced its 2013 Gold Circle Awards winners at its 126th Annual Convention held Feb. 3-7 in San Antonio. The awards were presented to NRCA member companies that made significant contributions to the roofing industry in the following categories:

Outstanding Workmanship: Low-slope

Winners:

  • James Myers Co. Inc., Beltsville, Md., for The Filene Center at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, Vienna, Va.
  • KPost Co., Dallas, for Omni Dallas Hotel

Finalists:

  • Castro Roofing of Texas LP, Dallas, for The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston
  • Henry C. Smither Roofing Co. Inc., Indianapolis, for The Commons, Columbus, Ind.

Outstanding Workmanship: Steep-slope

Winner:

  • Wagner Roofing Co., Hyattsville, Md., for U.S. Naval Academy’s Mahan Hall, Annapolis, Md.

Honorable mention:

  • James Myers Co. Inc., Beltsville, Md., for the Pentagon, Arlington, Va.

Finalist:

  • Peach State Roofing Inc., Lawrence, Ga., for Catholic Center at University of Georgia, Athens

Innovative Solutions: New Construction

Winner:

  • Chadwick Technology Pty. Ltd., Killarney Heights, Australia, for St. Barnabas Church, Sydney

Innovative Solutions: Reroofing

Winner:

  • Wagner Roofing Co., Hyattsville, Md., for U.S. Naval Academy’s Mahan Hall, Annapolis, Md.

Honorable mention:

  • Ornametals LLC, Decatur, Ala., for Church of the Nativity, Episcopal, Huntsville, Ala.

Finalist:

  • United Materials LLC, Denver, for U.S. General Services Administration Denver Federal Center

Service to the Community

Winner:

  • Oklahoma Roofing and Sheet Metal LLC, Oklahoma City, for Thunderbird Chapel at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma City

Honorable mention:

  • North Texas Roofing Contractors Association, Fort Worth, Texas, for its Consumer Advocacy Campaign

Finalists:

  • Ruff Roofers Inc., Baltimore, for WaterShed, College Park, Md.
  • Tecta America Southeast LLC, Sanford, Fla., for Give Kids the World, Kissimmee, Fla.

In addition, the Gold Circle Safety Award, which honors companies that demonstrate superior safety measures, was presented to Henry C. Smither Roofing for its work on The Commons and Peach State Roofing for its work on Catholic Center at University of Georgia. Also, Wagner Roofing received a Platinum Award for superior workmanship and presentation of its work on U.S. Naval Academy’s Mahan Hall.
