Ahead of Women in Construction week, Women in Construction (WIC) Bay Area—a Bay Area Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (SMACNA) Mission Partner—named Acosta Sheet Metal Manufacturing’s (based in San Jose, Calif.) vice-president of operations, Michelle Acosta, to its board of directors.

“We are so lucky to have [Acosta] on our board for WIC,” says Angie Simon, president of WIC Bay Area. “She brings a passion and knowledge that is invaluable. [Acosta] is so on top of marketing and technology, and we could not be where we are without her.”

On the board of directors of the Bay Area SMACNA chapter, Acosta was also named to the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s 2022 Women of Influence, a list encompassing women from every industry and profession who have made a difference in their communities. Recognized as a leader in numerous collegiate, young professional, and nonprofit organizations, she is a seasoned marketing professional with extensive experience in outreach within the manufacturing industry.

“[Acosta] is a leader who exemplifies what is needed in the construction industry. She is a champion for adopting new technology, asks the tough questions, and listens and learns to apply needed change,” says Kathy de Jong, director of labor relations for the Bay Area SMACNA chapter. “It has been exciting to see her growth and contributions over the past several years.”
