FGIA releases AAMA TIR-A21 on deflection gauge placement for folding doors

The Fenestration & Glazing Industry Alliance has released a new technical information report (TIR) to establish criteria for deflection and permanent deformation gauge locations to meet uniform deflection and structural load test specs and requirements specific to folding doors.

The FGIA document AAMA TIR-A21-26, Structural test deflection and permanent deformation gauge placement for folding doors, describes the correct placement of deflection measurement devices, and includes calculations for determining deflection and permanent deformation when performing structural testing of folding door products under uniform static air pressure difference per ASTM E330 and/or AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440.

This is the fourth TIR in a series that also includes:

  • AAMA TIR-A17, Structural test deflection and permanent deformation gauge placement for single-point lock side-hinged door systems.
  • AAMA TIR-A18, Structural test deflection and permanent deformation gauge placement for fixed and compression seal windows.
  • AAMA TIR-A19, Structural test deflection and permanent deformation gauge placement for horizontal and vertical sliding windows and sliding doors.

AAMA TIR-A21-26 is available for purchase now.
