Designed to be energy efficient, this 22,500-square-foot (2,090-m2) recreation facility has 16 skylights for natural light and extensive passive ventilation that helps it exceed California’s energy code by almost 30 percent, resulting in a substantial rebate from the local utility company.
Varco Pruden supplied its Rigid Frame system and SSR roof with Galvalume for the project. The building, at 187 feet (57 m) wide by 136 feet (41 m) long with 16-foot (5-m)eaves, had skewed sidewall, slanted canopy pipe columns and R-30 banded insulation from Bay Insulation. Varco Pruden’s 24-gauge panel rib wall panels in Ash Gray and Regal Blue were also utilized. Bar joist and plywood was used in the second-floor mezzanine.
