Working out got a little cooler for some southern fitness buffs. Three 12-foot, high-volume, low-speed (HVLS) fans made by Kelley FUSION HVLS Fans were installed at Planet Fitness' Miami location to give patrons some respite from the Sunshine State's oppressive heat and humidity. Scott Linsky, owner of the health club, says the large amount of air the industrial fans move is impressive.

"We tried other types of fans in our other facilities, but at the end of the day, we went with the HVLS fans because we wanted a quality fan that was also energy efficient, and looked like it belonged in the facility with the custom design that incorporates the Planet Fitness colors, purple and yellow, and the company logo," Linsky says.

Lightweight, single-piece anodized aluminum fan blades generate a column of air that flows down toward the floor and outward in all directions, and then is pulled back vertically toward the blades, spreading circulated air, to create what is known as a horizontal floor jet.

Planet Fitness's new six-blade fans are operated with a touchscreen remote that is also clad in bright company colors.
