The 55,110-square-foot Science of Spirituality International Meditation Center has a low, rusticated masonry façade juxtaposed with gold-clad volumes housing a 1,200-seat multiuse meditation hall and sanctuary space. Gensler designed the elliptical gold volumes as a unique form that draws attention to the sky like lotus flowers blooming from a pond.
Metal Design Systems Inc. fabricated and post-painted the walls with unitized frames that create angles from flat walls around two ovals. The top row of 0.125-inch plate aluminum panels has a custom perforated pattern with a back-pan painted gold to make the perforated pattern more prominent.
