A project goal for White Rock YMCA, located near White Rock Lake, was to promote healthy lifestyles beyond fitness. The 37,700-square-foot recreational facility was designed to connect users to the natural environment by engaging the site’s topography and taking advantage of second floor views of the lake. The design maintained open green space and several large, existing trees. The building is set back from the main street, nestled into a hillside with access to miles of hiking and bike trails. The cardio room has a full-length window that provides daylight and views of the outdoor green space.

Approximately 7,000 square feet of Umicore Building Products USA Inc.’s 1-mm-thick VMZ Interlocking panels in PIGMENTO Brown were specified to create a warm, natural aesthetic that complements the environmentally focused space. The project was completed in December 2014.
