Wildcat Recreation Center, California State University, Chico, Calif.

Completed in January 2010, the new recreation center boasts 109,000 square feet of sports and recreation space for students, staff and facility. Previously housed with athletics and the physical education department, the recreation center provides plenty of space for student recreation while also encouraging social interaction.

Targeted to receive LEED Gold certification, the student-funded facility features a gymnasium, multi-use activity court, climbing wall, outdoor swimming pool and spa. Other features include a social lounge, as well as second-floor balconies and a suspended running track with views of the various recreation areas.

Architect of record, Sasaki Associates Inc., designed the facility with a metal-clad exterior to complement the state-of-the-art interior amenities. Metal Sales Manufacturing Corp. supplied 21,000 square feet of 16-inch Magna-Loc 22-gauge flat pan standing-seam roof panels in Mistique Plus; Horizontal Magna-Loc 22-gauge wall panels in Mistique Plus; 6,500 square feet of 24-gauge V-Line 32 exposed direct-fastened wall panels in Mistique Plus, Duranar Sunstorm Black, and 0.04 Aluminum Black; and 9,400 square feet of 1-inch Soffit Panels in Mistique Plus, Duranar Sunstorm Black and 0.04 Aluminum Black.
