Insulation system doubles capacity
Nucor Buildings Group, a division of Nucor Corp., offers R-Boost, an elevated roof insulation system. It has a bridge between initial and secondary layers of blanket insulation, which doubles insulation capacity. R-Boost works with Nucor’s standing seam roof systems including CFR panel systems. The roof assembly comprises a purlin or joist, first layer of insulation, R-Boost insulation bridge, top layer of insulation, thermal block, roof clip and standing seam panel. R-Boost can realize U-factors as low as 0.026, which meets requirements of IECC 2018 in climate zones 1-8 and ASHRAE 90.1-2016 in climate zones 1-8 in the U.S.

IMPs have embossed, smooth finishes
CENTRIA’s Versawall insulated metal panels (IMPs) have factory-applied joints and field-applied sealants that create weather resistant air and vapor barriers. Versawall IMPs with smooth, non-embossed finishes come in two profiles: Flat and Planked. Three panel profiles, Flat, Planked and Striated, are available with embossed finishes.

Roof underlayment is flashing membrane
MFM Building Products Corp.’s Wind and Water Seal 40-mil self-adhering roofing underlayment for metal roofing systems can be used as a whole roof covering, in valleys, along eaves, or as a flashing membrane around exterior penetrations. The underlayment should not be folded over roof edges unless covered by a gutter, mechanically fastened every 6 inches, or protected with other flashing materials.

Roof tiles come in multiple materials
Sheet Metal Supply Ltd. fabricates Flat Lock Tiles for 3:12 and greater slopes in square, rectangular, diamond and geometric shapes. Steel and aluminum tiles with PVDF finishes, copper, zinc, stainless steel and A606 Corten tiles are available.

Ridge vents provide maximum ventilation
Design Components Inc.’s low profile floating ridge vents have Cor-A-Vent ventilation cores. They are designed for standing seam retrofit applications and residential applications where maximum ventilation is required.

Metal tiles resemble wood shakes
Vicwest Building Products’ 28-gauge steel True Nature roof tiles look like slate, shake and clay barrel tiles. The metal roof tiles have pre-drilled holes and Quadra-Loc technology.

IMPs have concealed fasteners
Metl-Span’s CFR standing seam insulated metal panels (IMPs) with polyurethane form cores have concealed clips and fasteners placed in side-joints. CFR IMPs can be used on roof slopes as low as 1/2:12.

Steel shingles resist severe weather
Kassel and Irons Ltd.’s KasselWood interlocking, concealed fastener, A653 G90 galvanized steel shingles with Kynar 500 PVDF finishes are designed for hail resistance. Textured surfaces with divots mask hail indentations left after severe storms.
