Camens Architectural Group LLC specified a copper standing seam roof for a house in a coastal environment for its longevity, traditional standing seam aesthetics, and natural finish. Importantly, the roof has complex geometry with multiple slopes, valleys, chimneys, and other elements.
“The roof was steep and somewhat cut up,” says Wesley Williamson, president at Skyline Roofing Inc. “The most challenging aspect of the job were the three chimney caps with decorative shrouds. Each cap consisted of 50 to
60 custom metal components, and each cap was unique.
All the components were fabricated in the shop, one section at a time, and then field installed.”
For an underlayment, Skyline Roofing Inc. installed Mid-States Asphalt’s QUIK-Stick HT Pro, a styrene-butadiene-styrene- (SBS-) modified, self-adhesive membrane.
To construct the roof on-site, Skyline rollformed and installed Revere Copper Products Inc.’s copper double-lock standing seam roof system. Hips and ridges were hand-rolled to create a traditional and slim-line look. Additionally, Skyline installed copper, half-round gutters with copper, round downspouts. Edge Metals Inc. fabricated, in shop, valleys, drip edges, vents, and accessories.
